—Kashy Khaledi, publisher, Mean
Mean 3000 was a game-oriented spin-off of Mean magazine. Kashy Khaledi Publishing asked me to create it for distribution in an upcoming issue of Mean. We skipped the prototype stage and I jumped straight to a template as stories were assigned by Mean’s editor in New York.
__ The publisher loved our first attempt at a look, and after just a bit of tweaking with the logo we had it on press without a hitch. We attached the mini-mag to the larger publication with an adhesive tab so it wouldn’t fall out in the bookstores.
__ From the feedback I received, Mean 3000 was a success with readers and advertisers but only one issue was ever produced, the publisher opting to keep a game section within the magazine rather than spin off a second periodical.
